Ahmad Bin Ali Stadium

news
Located in the city of Al Rayyan, Qatar, is one of the most spectacular of all the stadiums that this tiny country has built or converted for the 2022 World Cup competition which takes place in November and December in eight venues across Qatar. It is named the Ahmad Bin Ali Stadium. The beautiful and original design incorporates many symbols important in Qatari culture, reflecting the location as a close-knit community with a rich cultural history.

As with all the Qatar stadiums the Ahmad Bin Ali Stadium has been designed to be sustainable and eco-friendly, something the country has been getting a lot of press about thanks to these efforts. The stadium will seat 40,000 people and will welcome teams from nations across the world.

Repurposing Stadiums

Following the tournament, the Ahmad Bin Ali Stadium will have its seating capacity reduced to 20,000, with the remaining seats being distributed to football and sports community projects across Qatar. The same will happen to some of the other seven stadiums the World Cup will visit.

The stadium will also become a community hub with parks, cafes, and a mall, thus giving something back to the community.

The first match to take place at the Ahmad Bin Ali Stadium will be on the evening of the 21st of November, where the USA will face Wales. Other draws include Japan vs Costa Rica, and a much-anticipated clash between Wales and England. Qatar 2022 will be the first time the World Cup has been held in an Arab nation, and also the first hosting of the tournament in the months of November and December.
